This year’s 340B Coalition Summer Conference, widely considered one of the premier events for 340B stakeholders, took place in National Harbor, MD, from July 21st to 23rd, bringing together a diverse grouping of covered entities, pharmacies, service providers, pharmaceutical companies, and government officials – all committed to advancing the 340B program and ensuring care for patients in need. McKesson's continued presence at both the Winter and Summer conferences is just one of the many ways we remain dedicated to consistently engaging with the 340B community for the advancement of patient health.

Four of our pharmacy health system 340B experts from our Professional & Advisory Services (P&AS) team were in attendance at this summer’s conference. These expert advisors met with leading health systems and 340B professionals, focusing on strengthening relationships, conducting personalized discussions, and gathering valuable feedback. These discussions centered on understanding the unique needs of each health system and providing actionable strategies to improve their 340B program's overall effectiveness.

Over the course of the conference, a key pain point shared by many health systems emerged: the inability to utilize their existing 340B tools to their fullest extent due, largely, to a lack of internal resource availability. Even those health systems with access to robust tools that could ease the burden of 340B program management, like McKesson’s 340B Impact, may be missing opportunities and underutilizing the platform without the dedicated staff – and hours – to do so.

As resource and labor constraints continue to plague the healthcare industry and health system pharmacy specifically – and as the world collectively adopts a more collaborative, resource-driven mindset in parallel – be sure to explore strategies for success in how your health system pharmacy can best leverage what’s available to you.

Infographic highlights sub-trends: expanding pharmacist roles, integrating advanced tech, and shifting labor shortages from crisis to long-term challenge.

Consider, for example, the benefits of layering in the expertiseof McKesson’s Professional and Advisory Services team, who are at the forefront of health system pharmacy program management, to increase your health system’s capacity in more fully leveraging your existing 340B toolkit. By partnering with our P&AS experts, you can free up your teams to focus on what matters most while better applying your tools and resources to help:
